Circle of friends

Circle of Friends

Time has flown this past year.  I am coming up on one year is this fabulous photography industry.  I don’t think I have ever worked harder at anything in my entire life, but wouldn’t change any of the ups and downs for anything.  I have found that it is so important to establish relationships with your fellow photographers and stop considering them as competition.  There are more than enough people, places and things to go around.  We as individuals cannot photograph it all.

Over this past year, I have attended several workshops and have established Great relationships with many, many very talented folks.  The forums that were created from said workshops, allows for our groups to ask advice, bounce ideas, help each other in ways that only we can understand as photographers.  Many of us in these forums have never met, because they may have attended the same workshop a year or more ago.  So the group grows and grows.  But the countless ongoing conversations make you feel like they are your next door neighbor.  I can reach out to many of these people privately when having an “earth shattering” situation that requires advice or help that cannot wait, and they are there for me and I for them.   I have heard on several occasions a photographer not wanting to help out another photographer because they are “the competition”.  That said, I love my competition!  They have become my “Circle of Friends” that I come in contact every day of the week.  I am not sure where I would be at this point in the game without them.

So embrace the ones that just may be your competition and bring them into YOUR Circle of Friends  🙂
